All standard fan blades are designed to tilt clockwise inwards towards the rear fan motor and also rotate in a clockwise direction. A finger placed through the protective guard from the front will not cause any serious injury but minor abrasion of the skin.
However, if the finger is placed through the protective guard from the back of the fan motor, the fan blade becomes a razor sharped cutting tool which can cut off the finger if the fan speed is very fast.
